Rouge National Urban Park:

A Gateway to Communities in Durham

Green Durham Association recommends that the Federal Government include the addition of two small parcels of land to connect Seaton and Claremont to the RNUP which would be a major social, economic, and tourism stimulus to these communities.

It should be noted that the boundaries of the land parcels identified in this proposal should be further ground truthed to ensure that any sensitivities regarding existing dwellings, natural boundaries, businesses, as well as heritage, environmental and ecological features be taken into consideration. Our intent when identifying the potential corridors was to limit our request for land to a minimum so that our request not be seen as a land grab, but for what it was - potential gateways for neighbouring communities to the RNUP.
