In 2014 GDA began partnering with Lakeridge Citizens for Clean Water, a small citizen-led group who advocated that provincial standards and enforcement mechanisms for the handling and disposal of fill be established. Thanks to their work, and that of the Ontario Soil Regulation Task Force (OSRTF), legislation has been developed to provide support to municipalities, to monitor operations and enforce regulations which address the risks of ground water contamination.
