Starting with a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2001 and assisted by subsequent OTF grants we helped to secure and construct an almost totally off-road route for the Trans Canada Trail from the town of Uxbridge 15 km. south to the Pickering town line. This achievement required agreements to be drawn up with more than 10 land owners (easements, land acquisition, donations or exchange) and was completed in 2015.

 Accomplishment

In 2019 we partnered with TRCA to create a new spur of the TransCanada Trail, connecting the trails of Uxbridge Township to the Rouge National Urban Park. GDA contributed funds and volunteers to install signposts and signs along this new trail segment.
